You are now at the ‘Veer Bhoomi’ of Gun Hill which was constructed as Part of Phase two of Gun Hill after the construction of 3D model and the ‘Wall of Reminiscence’. The inspiration for designing ‘Veer Bhoomi’ is take from the Kargil War Memorial in Drass. An effort has been made at School of Artillery to give a special mention to the 34 martyrs of the Regiment of Artillery and award them a permanent place at Gun Hill.
It is worth mentioning that the contribution for the tombstones were given by all the units of the martyrs and a dedicated effort was made to reach out to the units of the martyrs for their details. A total of 34 tombstones of the martyrs of the Regiment of Artillery are present at the ‘Veer Bhoomi’. You can use the pathway to go around the ‘Veer Bhoomi’ and pay homage and respect to each of the martyrs.
The 'Gun Hill' stands tall at the School of Artillery and serves a source of inspiration for visitors about the immense role played by Regiment of Artillery in OPERATION VIJAY. 'Gun Hill' at School of Artillerywas inaugurated on 27th September 2023 on the eve of the 197th Gunners’ Day by Lt Gen S HarimohanIyer, AVSM Bar, Commandant School of Artillery and Senior Colonel Commandant, Regiment of Artillery in presence of an august gathering.
